This Blueberry Simple Syrup is so easy to make and has so many uses. The best part is that you can make this homemade syrup from fresh or frozen blueberries!


You can use this blueberry syrup to make a Blueberry Gin and Tonic!


This homemade syrup will last in the fridge in a sealed container for 3-4 weeks. You can also freeze this syrup in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
Instructions

Place all of the ingredients into a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir and mash the berries with a masher. Bring the mixture to a boil, then turn down the heat to medium and cook for an additional 2 minutes while stirring occasionally.
Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to steep as it cools for at least 1 hour. Strain the solids from the liquid using a fine-mesh sieve you can save the solids for another treat!).
Pour the syrup into a sealable bottle or jar and store it in the fridge. The syrup will last in the fridge in a sealed container for 3-4 weeks.
Tips
  • If you want a thicker consistency closer to maple syrup, you can make a slurry of 1 tablespoon of water and 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch. Whisk the two ingredients together in a small bowl and then stir it into the mixture after cooking.
