Basil Blueberry Lemonade Vodka - A Life Unfolding
Perfect End of Summer Cocktail
Everyone I know is moving on to Fall, but it’s SO hot and humid this week, I will take this last week of August and share a favorite summertime drink.
Basil Blueberry Lemonade Vodka.
It’s refreshing, which is a plus, and it gives me something to do with all those blueberries I picked recently!
For some reason, when I think of Vodka, it feels like more of a summertime spirit.
Ingredients
- 1.5-2 oz vodka
- 1.5 oz basil blueberry simple syrup
- 1.5 oz fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 2 oz sparkling water
- Ice
- Blueberries, fresh basil, lemon slices to garnish
Directions
In a cocktail shaker, mix vodka, blueberry basil syrup, lemon juice, and sparkling water.
Shake well, then add ice and shake again.
Then pour into pretty glasses and garnish.
You can buy a blueberry simple syrup, but it’s easy to make your own, and I love the addition of basil.
Basil Blueberry Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil.
Then stir in blueberries and basil- the blueberries will begin to pop open.
Add sugar.
Simmer for five minutes-stir frequently.
Strain with a fine mesh colander and let cool.
Cover and store leftover syrup in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Trust me; I will be enjoying this cocktail until the first frost!
If you need me this weekend, you can find me on the porch with a book ( this is next on my list) and a Basil Blueberry Lemonade Vodka.
Want to try another fruity cocktail?

Until next time,
