Cantaloupe is so nutritious and delicious as the main ingredient in this smoothie.

Melons are all so so so good. My favorites are cantaloupe and watermelon. There is something so refreshing about melons. Whether you are using leftover cantaloupe from a salad or snack or starting with a freshly cut one, this recipe is sure to be a favorite.


One of the best things about a smoothie is that the ingredients can be substituted easily. If you are lactose intolerant, sub the creamer for almond milk. If you hate bananas, try adding berries instead.

  • 2 Cups Cut Cantaloupe Pieces
  • 1 Banana Sliced
  • 1 Cup Ice Cubes
  • 1/3 Cup Vanilla Coffee Creamer
  • Basil for Garnishing

You will also need a blender or a smoothie making machine to blend the ingredients. We LOVE the NINJA smoothie blender the most. Dawson has one in his college dorm and we all have them in our homes.

Directions to Make a Cantaloupe Smoothie

Start with cut up fruits – cantaloupe and banana. Then follow these few simple steps.

  1. Put fruit, ice and creamer in blender.
  2. Blend until creamy.
  3. Pour into a glass.
  4. Add basil to garnish if desired.

This is such a fun and refreshing snack all year round, whenever there are ripe cantaloupes to be found. I love a little basil flavor with my fruit but if you don’t – skip it.

How to Pick a Cantaloupe

The trick to making great cantaloupe recipes is by choosing a good piece of fruit. Here are some tips.

  • Smell – the fruit should smell sweet and a bit musky
  • Weight – it should be heavy for its size
  • Texture – the rind should have striations that resemble raised netting

Of COURSE! Cantaloupe and melons works well with most fruit combinations. The sweet and smooth taste is a great addition to a smoothie or even a milkshake!

Can You Freeze Cantaloupe Ahead of Time?

The answer is yes, you can freeze chunks of cantaloupe. It will make your smoothie colder and add a slightly different texture to the treat.
