  • Thawed Puff Pastry Sheets
  • Egg
  • Softened Cream Cheese
  • Sugar
  • Lemon juice, lemon zest

Puff Pastry Turnovers are super easy to make. All you need is your thawed puff pastry dough and other ingredients as well as a stand mixer and a baking sheet and you are an hour away from delicious homemade strawberry turnovers.

Strawberry turnovers with cream cheese take minimal time so let's get started!

Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat.

Make sure to thaw your puff pastry completely before making this recipe.

Step 2: Now we are going to make our "puff pastry boat" for the asparagus to sit in. Lay puff pastry out on the prepared baking sheet. Fold edges up to create a ½-inch wide border. Prick the inside base of dough completely with a fork.

Simply pinch the edges of the puff pastry to form a puff pastry boat

Make sure to prick the entire dough of the puff pastry. This ensures the dough will cook properly.

Step 3: Bake in the preheated oven until golden and puffed, about 10 minutes. Press the puffed center down with the back of a fork to deflate.

Step 4: In a stand mixer, add the softened cream cheese, lemon juice, tablespoon vanilla extract, egg, and sugar. Mix on the low setting until well combined.

Step 5: Add in the lemon zest and mix again filling is creamy and smooth.

Step 6: Carefully pour a layer of the strawberry turnover filling homemade strawberry filling evenly into pastry shell You can also add a top layer of lemon zest. This makes the strawberry turnovers even tastier.

Step 7: Arrange berries cut side down, you can alternate these as well. Brush egg wash on the outer crust of the puff pastry. After a layer of strawberries is placed on the prepared puff pastry, you are ready to bake on the lined baking sheet.

Step 8: Bake in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until the sides of the phyllo dough is flaky puff pastry golden brown. Add more fresh lemon zest. Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing.

  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 lemon juiced and zested
