Who doesn’t enjoy eating a nice rotisserie style chicken? I love them but sometimes they can take a while to make. I have found the easiest way to achieve this style of chicken and the fastest way is by air frying it. The meat always comes out juicy and the skin is always crispy. If you’ve never made it this way, give it a try. I can guarantee you will not only love how easy it is but you will love the flavor too. I use my air fryer to cook a lot of different types of food but this is my favorite food to cook.


ABOUT THE RECIPE:


This recipe is crazy easy, it only takes a few steps and it always turns out great. I used a Trader Joe’s seasoning called “spicy Italian seasoning” but you can use the seasoning of your choice. The trick to getting the perfect crispy chicken is to pat it dry and add a little oil before seasoning it. I also found if you cook the breast side down first, the meat turns out more juicy. The cooking time may vary depending on the size of your chicken, just ensure the internal meat temperature is 165° F.

Rinse and pat dry the chicken, including the cavity.

Trim excess skin and fat.

Detach skin from breast so you can season under the skin as well.

Rub a little oil all over the chicken.

Season the exterior, the cavity and beneath the skin.

Ingredients
For the chicken
  • 1 whole chicken, small enough to fit in your air fryer.
  • Spicy Italian seasoning or seasoning of your choice.
  • Avocado or olive oil.
Instructions
For the chicken
Rinse & pat dry chicken.
Trim excess fat & skin.
Separate the skin from the breast meat.
Rub a little oil all over the exterior of the chicken.
Season the entire chicken from the skin, to the cavity & beneath the skin you separated from the breast.
Tuck the wings.
Pre-heat air fryer to 375°F.
Cook chicken in pre-heated air fryer, breast side down for 35 minutes.
Turn chicken & cook for another 20 minutes or until internal temp is 165°F.
