Stop! Don’t even call me names for posting about donuts, like it’s a dirty word or something! Cause I’m guessing that 96% of our population loves donuts. I can tell you for most of my life I have ridden the 4% fence. That is until the day I learned about puff pastry donuts. The best puff pastry glazed donuts!

Lord have mercy!

This post goes out to my friend – Rosemary, back in Texas. She loves donuts more than anyone I know. And I know she is anxiously awaiting this recipe. She will open this blog post and immediately start salivating and drooling into her morning coffee! Mark my words!

Her comment on my instagram post the other morning, and I quote:

“Those donuts you posted look like Heaven. Is it homemade dough? If it’s an easy recipe I would like to make them and eat them til I’m sick.” 😂 (I love her!) “They look amazing. You should make them every morning!”

Honest my friend—-they are like heaven! Also, super easy (just like I like things) and so good! Everyone will seriously think you spent hours making ’em.

Now why does Belle not like donuts? (I know you’re still stuck on the 4% thingy!) Well… I’m not big on sweets, donuts are fried (I don’t do much fried), and they’re usually too sweet and heavy (too filling)!

But these… well you’ll just have to give them a try. Please.

Best Puff Pastry Glazed Donuts

Next time you run to the grocery store, pick you up a package of puff pastry. Aside from that you should have everything else on hand!

Other ingredients

  • Oil for frying (vegetable)
  • Powdered sugar
  • Milk
  • Vanilla
  • Flour (for rolling dough out)

I’m gonna warn you now! Unless you’re like Rosemary—I recommend using only 1, (one), (uno), sheet of puff pastry for your 1st time around. You will get about 7-8 donuts from one sheet. I don’t want you eating all of ’em and then blaming me for your aching tum! There… proceed.

These are fun for kids to help with and even more when you get to eat ’em all up! Try them and leave me some feedback. I love comments!

Can this recipe be done in an air fryer?

    • Shari Kenny Shari Kenny on Nov 03, 2021

Air fryers are compact convection ovens, so my guess is they would turn out more like the pastry in a napoleon...you could try to use that, though...

The worst that happens is you split the rings, fill with a custard-like filling and top with a thicker version of the glaze and you have round napoleons!

I don't own an air fryer so I couldn't say.
