Learn how to make Nutella donuts. I have a little trick to making filled baked donuts so the filling doesn't spill out everywhere. These homemade Nutella donuts are baked and not fried for a delicious treat.

My daughter has a bit of an obsession with Nutella. She will eat it with pretzels, crackers, bread, or just by the spoonful.

She found out that Krispy Kreme had Nutella filled donuts, but we don't have a Krispy Kreme near us unfortunately.

I've made baked filled doughnuts before, and the filling seeps out. I figured there had to be a better way to make them.

So we had some fun experimenting with different recipes and learned how to make Nutella donuts. This little trick should work for jam filled baked donuts and other types of stuffed donuts.

Baked donuts are delicious, but they have a different texture than fried donuts.

This Nutella stuffed donuts recipe has more of a cake like texture. They aren't as chewy as a fried donut.

You will need a donut pan for baking. I really like Nordic Ware for baking pans.

You can make the batter for Nutella filled donuts the night before. Place the batter in an airtight container to store in the fridge.

Don't assemble the donuts or pour into the pan and add the Nutella until you are ready to bake.

Ingredients
For the Batter
  • 1 cup all purpose flour or cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Dash of salt
  • 3.5 tablespoons butter
  • 2.5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 7 tablespoons milk
For the Filling and Topping
  • 1/2 cup Nutella
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions

Pour the Nutella into a donut mold and freeze to form a ring. You can line the cavities with plastic wrap to make it easy to remove. Use a piping bag or a spoon to fill the cavities.
Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and teaspoon cinnamon in a bowl. In a separate bowl, combine the butter, egg, vanilla, and milk.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and combine. Whisk until combined.
Spray the pan with nonstick spray or use butter or oil. Add dough to the bottom of each cavity in the pan. Add a disk of frozen Nutella, then top with more dough.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes until they are safe to handle.
Combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a small bowl. Brush each of the Nutella filled donuts with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
