Beef Chili

A big bowl of beef chili is a big bowl of comfort to me! This dish comes together in 25 minutes and never fails to disappoint. I find the beans to be super filling, but if you want to add some extra carbs, serve it with rice or on a bun.

This dish is packed with protein from the lean ground beef and the black beans. Feel free to swap for ground chicken for a lower calorie option or if that's what you prefer.

I like my chili spicy so I top it with jalapenos and hot sauce, but this is entirely optional.

  • 250g ground beef
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 can black beans
  • 30ml tomato paste
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • sour cream to serve
  • shredded cheese to serve
  • 1 green onion to garnish
  • 1 jalapeno to garnish
  • cilantro to garnish

Heat a pan on the stove then add your beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon or spatula until browned and cooked through
Strain any excess oil from the pan of beef then add your seasonings and tomato paste
Drain and rinse your can of black beans, then add them to the pan
Add 1 cup of water then bring to a boil
Once boiling, cover with a lid and let simmer until thickened
Serve in a bowl then top with sour cream, sliced green onion, sliced jalapeno, shredded cheese, and cilantro
