Summer Burger With Green Beans Chips

I love burgers but I feel that they are quite heavy and not that healthy. But they are perfect to eat in a beautiful summer day. When my kids and my husband are starving and asking for a burger, I had to think about the best way to make one with healthy ingredients and yet that tastes super good. The crucial high carb element in a burger is the bread and the fries plus the sauces. I replaced the bread with a sriracha buns for the adults because it is quite spicy for young kids and whole wheat buns for my kids. I grilled the beef patty in my gas barbecue and grilled the onion with mushroom as well in the same time with the patties. For the lettuce, i used instead some spinach leaves and a chopped Brussels sprouts mixed with a little bit of mayo, so that was my crunchy and saucy ingredient in the recipe no sauce anymore. This little salad gives my burger the crunchiness and the moistness it needs. The rest of the ingredients were just tomato, light cheese, pickles and the grilled onion and mushrooms.

The best part of my recipe is that I didn’t make any fries. I grilled green beans with a little bit of savory seasoning and olive oil and placed them in my air fryer for 20 minutes. That was super crunchy and savory. It can be toasted in the oven if you don’t have an air fryer.

Ingredients

For the burger

  • . 4 burger buns (i used sriracha and whole wheat buns)h
  • . Pound ground beef
  • . Half onion
  • . 1 cup mushrooms
  • . 1 tomato
  • . Pickles
  • . 4 Brussels sprouts .
  • . 4 square cheese (American cheese)
  • . Some spinach leaves
  • . 1 tsp mayo (for the Brussels sprouts mixture )
  • . Salt and pepper

For the side

  • . 1 pound French green beans
  • . 1 tablespoon savory seasoning or any other seasoning you prefer.
  • . 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions


Start by slicing very finely the Brussels sprouts, add a pinch of salt and the tsp of mayo. Place in the fridge for 1 hour or 30 minutes to absorb all the flavors.
wash the green beans and tup dry them, add the seasoning and olive and toast them in the air fryer or in the oven until toasted around 20 minutes in the air fryer and 30 minutes in the oven 350 degrees.
salt and pepper the ground beef and shape them in patties, grill them or sautée.
slice the onion and the mushrooms, salt and pepper them and place in a bbq skillet or place in the oven with the green beans.
Slice the tomato, pickles and wash your spinach leave and set a side.
When the meat is ready, lay over it the cheese and transfer to the bun. Build your burger and put over the meat and cheese the Brussels sprouts salad, onion and mushrooms, tomato, pickles and spinach leaves.
Serve immediately with some savory toasted green beans beside and enjoy your meal.

Tips

  • Add some shredded carrots, vinegar and olive oil to the Brussels sprouts salad.
