Banana and Chocolate Oatmeal

4 portions
10 min

I haven't posted many breakfast recipes so far - especially when it comes to oatmeal, I thought that it was a very easy meal to prepare and everyone cooks it the way they like it and depending on what they find in the fridge. That's exactly how I made this recipe for the first time, and I thought, because it worked so well, that I had to share it with you. But feel free to combine this with any other fruits and toppings, though I certainly wouldn’t miss out on peanut butter and the crunchy chocolate chunks on top. Even if this is a less healthy version of an average oatmeal, I hope this doesn’t deter you from trying this recipe in the new year.

Oh, I ADORE new ways to work with oats!!! I usually use about 1/2 the liquid and stir only minimally, so that the oats don't get "gluey" and retain their texture. I've actually (shhh! YES!) served "steamed" oats for dinner with crumbled bacon, shredded cheese, and a sunny-side-up egg on top!!! Don't knock the SAVORY oat combination!!! We'll do YOUR version for dessert!!! Yum!!! Thanks for posting! ~Chrissie
