Football season is in full swing (go Vikes!) and that means Sunday afternoons are full of exciting games and delicious eats. I'm a sucker for a great dip and I love the twist on this classic taco dip.

How do you make this classic a bit lighter? Swap out some of the cream cheese with plain Greek yogurt. It seems like a simple switch however it adds in some extra protein (yay!) and some extra creaminess (yay!) while still having the most delicious flavour (yay!).

I like to use my own mix of spices in this recipe however if you are in a pinch, feel free to sub in 1 Tbsp of premade taco seasoning 😊

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • 1/2 tsp each; garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, red pepper flakes, black pepper
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1 roma tomato, chopped
  • 1 avocado, chopped
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (I used Monterey Jack)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro, finely chopped
Instructions

In a small mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, plain Greek yogurt and lime juice with a handheld mixer until smooth.
Add in all of the spices and mix together again until smooth and creamy.
Place mixture in a small serving dish. I like using a pie plate for this. Use a spatula to evenly spread out the dip.
Top with lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese and cilantro.
Serve with taco chips and enjoy!
