These hot chocolate pudding shots are a fun drink for your holiday parties. They are similar to a Jello shot, but they are made with pudding. I made mine a classic hot chocolate pudding flavor that your guests will love. I also have instructions to make them nonalcoholic and serve as a delicious dessert.

A pudding shot is when alcohol (or any other drink) is mixed with a pudding mix and served in a shot glass. Hot cocoa pudding shots are very similar to regular pudding shots, except they use hot cocoa mix in tandem with the pudding.

This makes for a unique hot chocolate flavor that pairs well with different types of alcohol, as well as other toppings such as marshmallows or peppermint. These are also often called christmas pudding shots as they can be infused with all sorts of fun winter flavors.

You can serve these boozy hot chocolate shots in disposable shot glasses. You can also serve them in condiment cups, but they are pretty small.

As with any alcoholic beverage, there is always the potential for intoxication. There are many factors that influence how your body processes alcohol, so one cannot really say how many servings of a particular drink it would take to make you drunk.

With that being said, you should always assume that there is a risk of intoxication, plan accordingly, and drink responsibly. Always keep these hot cocoa pudding shots out of reach of children.

You can use any kind of drink you want to make hot chocolate shots with alcohol, however, there are a few that naturally lend themselves better to hot chocolate shots than do others.

If you are looking for something that captures the spirit of the season, or just something that pairs well with chocolate, this is a quick list of drinks that pair well with hot chocolate shots:

  • Peppermint Vodka
  • Chocolate Liqueur
  • Marshmallow Vodka
  • Spiced Rum
  • Bailey’s
  • Amaretto

How to Make Hot Cocoa Pudding Cups Without Alcohol

You can use nearly any drink to make hot cocoa pudding cups, however, you should keep in mind the drinks flavor.

For instance, you could use a basic liquid such as milk or water, however, that might dilute the flavor of the pudding cup rather than add to it. You could also use a non-alcoholic variant of a favored drink as well.

Depending on the drink, you may need to add more or less whipped cream to the recipe, so keep that in mind before you start making your hot cocoa pudding cups.

To make these hot cocoa pudding shots nonalcoholic, simply replace the alcohol with milk or water.
