Applesauce Cake
I always love to have a little treat with my afternoon coffee. Nothing too heavy or sweet but just something to indulge a little. I usually make this recipe as a loaf, but today I was feeling creative and thought I would dress this cake up just a little. I decorated the top with sliced almonds and gave the whole cake a light dusting of powdered sugar before serving. I love the crunch that the almonds give to the cake and the extra sweetness from the sugar. My usually boring looking applesauce cake looks so pretty now with just a few simple additions. This would definitely be pretty enough to share on special occasions and the best part is that it is extremely simple to make.
Once you have mixed the batter, pour it into a well greased baking dish.
Decorate the top of the cake with sliced almonds.
How pretty! Once the cake is cooled you can give it a light dusting with some powdered sugar.
The applesauce in the cake keeps it from becoming dry. It’s the absolute perfect cake to enjoy with a hot cup of coffee or tea.
