Living in Texas, the summers get hot here. So hot that it’s challenging to step out in the regular hours. The only thought that comes to mind is indulging in something cold and refreshing, even if you’re indoors. Hence, on a hot summer day, I came up with this Banana and Dates Milkshake!

Now, what makes this Milkshake stand out from its peers? The divine blend of Bananas and Dates. Now, this is the first time I was attempting a combination of these two ingredients. And boy, the result was so good, I wanted to share it with my fellow readers too.

Dates in a milkshake?

Let’s talk about Dates. Dates are the fruit of the Palm tree that grows in most tropical regions. They have been a staple food in the Middle East for thousands of years. Like most stone fruits, dates also have a big pit in the center surrounded by sweet edible flesh.

Nutrition wise:

  • Great source of energy, as they are high in natural sugars
  • Great source of Fibre, which in turn helps with digestion too.
  • Rich in Iron, a great source of relief for people suffering from Anemia.
  • Protects heart health and aids in regulating blood sugar.

Dates are a great way to add sweetness to Shakes, Smoothies, homemade energy bars, and more. Dates come in few varieties which distinguishes their sweetness. Medjool Dates are the most popular and easily available variety.

Vegan option?

Considering making a vegan version of this milkshake? Absolutely, simple substitute Whole Milk with dairy free Milk ,such as ,Oat Milk or Soy Milk.

Ingredients in this Milkshake:

As the above picture shows, very few ingredients have been incorporated into this delicious drink. Chilled Milk, Pitted Dates, Cinnamon and Cardamom Powder, Two Bananas, and a bit of Vanilla Extract. How easy is that? A great Kid Friendly choice for a healthy and energy-boosting drink!
