Honey. Lavender. Lemonade. Sure, maybe it sounds like something a grandma would serve on the porch or a fancy restaurant might have on the menu, but this is no ordinary drink.

Instead, honey lavender lemonade is one of my favorite ways to just this wonderful herb.

It's been fun to learn how lavender is grown and it's inspired me to use it more as an ingredient. This lemonade really lets lavender shine and will change people's minds who think this beautiful herb is only for bath products.

Ingredients

This lemonade comes together with a short list of ingredients. You can also add optional extras such as lemon slices and lavender sprigs for a pretty presentation.

  • Lemonade: Store-bought lemonade is a shortcut way to getting the same flavor! Just follow the recipe above but use 1 part store-bought lemonade to 2 parts water.
  • Fresh lemon juice: You can use either fresh or bottled lemon juice for this recipe - I recommend freshly squeezed lemons for the best flavor
  • Lavender simple syrup: This is a great syrup to make ahead of time. Make sure to use culinary lavender if you are using dried flower buds!
  • Sugar

How to Make Lavender Lemonade with Honey

Make your Honey Lavender Simple Syrup

The basis for this recipe is this Honey Lavender Simple Syrup. You can make the lavender simple syrup and keep it in a glass bottle or jar in your fridge for future lavender lemonade.

To make the syrup, combine ½ cup sugar ½ cup honey, and 1 cup water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and add 1 tablespoon of dried lavender buds. This allows the flavor of the lavender blossoms to infuse into the syrup.

Lavender syrup will keep refrigerated for up to two weeks. You can also make this with lavender honey that's already infused with culinary lavender petals!

Making the lemonade

In a pitcher, combine the lavender syrup, lemon juice, and water. Feel free to add more honey syrup to taste. If you are missing purple hue to your lemonade, feel free to add a drop of food coloring to make more vivid, but I say it's great as is.

Garnish with lemon slices and lavender blossoms.

Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Serve over ice and enjoy!
