Looking for a fun summer cocktail that is simple to prepare and tastes SO GOOD? Wait until you try this refreshing blueberry mojito recipe that is super easy to make!

In the summertime, I’m always looking for a light, refreshing, and fruity drink to enjoy.

I love a good sangria like this peach sangria and this watermelon sangria.

But lately, I’ve been more interested in berry beverages like this strawberry lemonade.

Since New Jersey has the best climate for growing them, it’s no surprise I enjoy making dishes that feature anything berry.

With blueberries in season though and the heat of summer well underway, what better way to enjoy the beach, lake, porch, or patio than with a nice cool glass of blueberry mojito.

Have you had a mojito before?

I have and it’s not a drink I typically gravitate to. But this blueberry mojito recipe is SO GOOD.

It’s so refreshing and I know you will love it too!

Made with rum, this cocktail is simple to make and tastes unbelievable.

It’s the perfect cocktail to serve at a summer dinner party or barbecue but also makes a great beverage if you are just hanging out on the porch.

Cool off with this refreshing cocktail blend of juicy blueberries, rum, and tart limes.

Wait until you try this easy blueberry mojito recipe!

What Is a Mojito Made Of?

Mojitos are a light, refreshing drink that is typically made with a blend of rum, simple syrup, lime juice, and fresh mint.

With blueberries in season right now, why not try this twist on the original with this tasty fruit?

It’s made with fresh blueberries, mint leaves, sugar, lime juice, and club soda.

And it’s really the perfect summer drink to enjoy in your favorite outdoor living space!

Is Mojito a Rum or Vodka?

Mojitos are generally made with rum, but you can also make a vodka mojito.

There are even recipes that swap out the rum for tequila.

While it’s all a matter of preference, swapping out the rum will lose the tropical flavor of the drink.

Personally, I prefer rum to vodka in a mojito. I’ve had it with vodka before and it’s just not the same.

But that said, enjoy it how you like!

What Type of Rum Is Best for a Mojito?

Light or white rum is best for making mojitos because it is a milder, lighter spirit.

Darker rums have deeper flavors because they are aged longer than lighter rums.

While it is recommended to go with a lighter rum, any rum you have on hand works for this easy blueberry mojito recipe.

What is a Blueberry Mojito Made Of?

To make a blueberry mojito, bash blueberries, mint, and some sugar together then add white rum and a little club soda.

Blueberries are wonderful in this, but if you have other berries on hand, use them. Raspberries, strawberries, or even blackberries are all amazing.

In fact, you could even play around with adding another herb like fresh basil.

How to Make Mojitos For a Crowd

To make this blueberry mojitos recipe easy in a pitcher, quadruple the recipe so there is enough for a few people.

Muddle the blueberries and mint then add the lime juice, sugar and rum together in a pitcher.

If you plan on serving right away, add ice and top with club soda.

If you want to make this pitcher of mojitos in advance, wait to add the ice and club soda until you are ready to serve so it doesn’t lose the carbonation.

Why I Love This Blueberry Mojito Recipe Easy

This take on the classic mojito recipe is so light and refreshing which makes it the perfect summer drink to enjoy by the pool, beach, lake or on the patio.

I love it best when blueberries and mint are in season, but you can make this cocktail anytime during the year.

If fresh blueberries are not available, you can also use thawed frozen blueberries.

Just be sure you find mint, because the herb makes the drink!

How to Make a Blueberry Mojito Easy Recipe

This easy recipe for blueberry mojitos could not be simpler to make.

It takes minutes to prepare and if you plan to serve it at a party, hold off on adding the club soda and ice until you are ready to serve.

I love to garnish blueberry mojitos with extra blueberries and mint.

Ingredients to Make This Easy Recipe for Blueberry Mojito

There are not many ingredients needed to make this refreshing summer drink.

If you grow blueberries and mint like I do, it’s even easier to pull it all together!

Here’s what you need to make this blueberry mojito recipe.

  • 1.5 Cups Fresh Blueberries
  • 4 Ounces Rum
  • 10 Fresh Mint Leaves
  • 2 Teaspoons White Sugar
  • 2 Limes, Juiced
  • 6 Ounces Club Soda
  • Ice Cubes

Directions to Make Blueberry Mojito Recipe Easy

While most mojito recipes have you muddle the blueberries and mint separately, if you want to save some time, you can do it together.

But I’d start with the blueberries first and then add in the mint after.

  • Muddle blueberries until smooth. I like to leave a few chunks for color.
  • Next, muddle mint leaves, then combine with the blueberries.
  • Stir rum, sugar, lime juice, and blueberry mixture.
  • Pour into glasses over ice with club soda.
  • Garnish with blueberries, mint and more lime (optional).

I prefer serving this recipe for blueberry mojitos in mason jars because they are casual and I have them on hand. But feel free to use whatever glassware you prefer!

Cheers!
