The holidays are such a fun and festive time for me and my family. When it comes to spending the time together, you can always find us congregated in the kitchen together. We are usually cooking, snacking, and drinking--usually all three. Everyone has different interests when it comes to holiday drinks. I like this one because it is not too strong in any particular flavor profile. It is easy to add and omit ingredients. If someone does not like ginger, you can leave it out of their drink and sub in extra sparkling water or tonic water. I also love that with all of these yummy flavors, you don't miss the vodka. I actually preferred this drink as a mocktail, myself. Try this for a special New Year's Eve celebration beverage.

If you have never tried making sugared cranberries, this may be your chance to give it a shot. I like snacking on them like candy, but they are so beautiful atop a fancy cocktail or dessert.

Enjoy!

Ingredients
Sugared Cranberries
  • 1 12 oz bag fresh cranberries
  • 2 C sugar, divided
  • 1/2 C water
Holiday Spritzer
  • 1/2 C sparkling pomegranate water (or any flavor of sparkling water you enjoy)
  • 1/4 C ginger beer
  • 1-3 tsp cranberry simple syrup to taste (reserved from sugared cranberries)
  • 1 shot of vodka (or omit for a wonderful mocktail)
  • Squeeze of fresh lime juice
  • Optional toppings:
  • sugar lime rim
  • pomegranate seeds
  • sugared cranberries
  • lime slice
  • rosemary sprig
Instructions
Sugared Cranberries
Combine 1/2 water and 1/2 sugar in saucepan on medium heat
Stir until sugar is dissolved
Stir in cranberries and fully toss them in the sugar syrup
Remove after 2 minutes and set the cranberries on a drying rack (over parchment paper because there will be sticky drips)!
Allow to air dry for 1-2 hours. Mine only took an hour
Roll cranberries in the remaining sugar
Pour the remaining cranberry simple syrup into a container to cool slightly for your spritzer
Holiday Spritzer
Start by making your sugared cranberries if you are using
Grate some fresh lime peel into a small amount of granulated sugar on a place
Drizzle water on the rim of the drinks you will be drinking out of
When it is wet, dip into the sugar lime to coat the rims for a festive pop
When ready to serve drinks, pour vodka in cups and add ice
Stir in ginger beer, sparkling water, and simple syrup
Squeeze in lime
Top with optional garnishes of lime, pomegranate seeds, cranberries, and fresh rosemary
Tips
  • The amount of ingredients shown is for ONE DRINK with the exception of the sugared cranberries. Double, triple, or quadruple for your gathering!
  • The caveat for all of my drinks are to be creative. They are not meant to be prescriptive. Cocktails are a really fun way to show off your creativity and add and omit what you like best. Happy holidays and enjoy!
