Berries are so very healthy to eat, so I’m thinking that if I put them in a dessert, it turns it into a health food. Who’s with me on this?
Seriously though, this recipe has no refined sugar or white flour. What it does have is amazing taste!
And it couldn't be any easier to make. Just pour some lovely, ripe berries into a pie plate, top with a super simple oat topping, and you're done!
Add your favorite ice cream or maybe whip up some fresh coconut cream topping and this is the perfect summer dessert!
This is our favorite dessert around here this time of year.

Recipe details
Ingredients
Berry Crumble
- 1 (8oz) container of raspberries
- 1 (16 oz) container of blueberries
- 1 (16 oz) container of strawberries
- 2 cups rolled oats (NOT steel cut or instant)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 Tablespoons refined coconut oil or canola oil
- 3 Tablespoons pure maple syrup (NOT a brand that has sugar added)
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Berry Filling
- Wash and lightly pat dry the berries. Remove the hull from the strawberries and cut any large ones into smaller pieces.
- Toss the berries together and put them into a pie dish.
Crumble (Crust)
- Combine the salt and oats in a medium bowl. In a small bowl, whisk the oil, syrup and vanilla. Pour over the oats and stir well to combine.
- Spread the oat mixture evenly over the berries
Baking the crumble
- Preheat the oven to 350
- Place the pie plate containing the crumble on a sheet pan or baking pan in case any of the berries bubble over. Place in over and bake for 40-50 minutes until berries are bubbling and oats are slightly golden.
- Allow the crumble to sit 5-10 minutes before serving.
Tips
- Goes really well with vanilla ice cream!
