Old Bay Goldfish

Today, we’re making Old Bay Goldfish!

Now, I’m not calling this recipe a copycat, because I never tasted the original. But what I can tell you is that my coworkers kept begging me to bring more and more in. And, I think that pretty much speaks for itself right there.

This is a simple 4 ingredient recipe. No frills. No special skills or equipment required. Just flavor. And, it starts with your standard bag of cheddar Goldfish.

To the Goldfish, we’re going to add a simple mix of melted butter, garlic powder, and a big ol’ heap of Old Bay seasoning. Even though Old Bay already has garlic in it, there’s just something about mixing it with garlic powder that really accentuates the flavor of this savory spice blend. So, that’s what we’re going to do. From there, we’ll toss every last drop of that spicy butter mixture all over our cheesy crackers. You want to make sure the butter and seasonings are as evenly dispersed as possible. We don’t want any naked fishies!

After the Goldfish are seasoned, we’re going to spread them in an even layer on a parchment lined baking sheet. And, we’ll pop them in the oven for a half hour. That’s it! Now why bake a cracker? Letting these bake at a low temperature in the oven really helps that Old Bay butter infuse into the cracker without leaving behind a greasy, sloppy mess.

And, folks. That’s it! Recipe complete. Let these babies cool back to room temp, store them in an airtight container, and snack at your leisure.

These Goldfish are SO FLAVORFUL. They’re a smidge spicy on the back of your tongue thanks to that robust Old Bay. But that nostalgic cheddar flavor is not lost at all. These are the ultimate in savory snacking.

Someone even told me she envisioned these swimming atop a big ol’ bowl of cream of crab soup, and she’s got the right idea. Can you imagine??? YUM!

Alright, everyone! If you want to see the Oreo/Ritz recreation, you’ll have to head on over to Tiktok. Gotta spread the copycat-esque love, you know!

I hope you all enjoy. And, let’s eat!
