Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 - 4 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1-2 nectarines, cored and sliced
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 F.
Roll out the pastry sheet, just a little. Up to one inch on each side.
Beat softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until fluffy and smooth.
Place cream cheese filling in the center of the puff pastry. Then add sliced nectarines.
To make the braid, cut one inch slits. (Starting from the cream cheese to the end of the dough) Make sure they are even on both sides. Fold the top part of the dough in. Bring the first left slit to the right, and then the first right slit to the left. Continue until you have reached the second to last slit. Fold in the bottom part of the dough up towards cream cheese. Cover with the last two slits, pinching the dough to seal everything. (see photos above.)
Transfer the danish to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Whisk egg in a small bowl, and brush the top of pastry.
Bake for 20-23 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool the danish for about 15 minutes. Before drizzling with glaze.
To make the glaze, mix powdered sugar and milk until you get the desired consistency. Drizzle over danish.
