Tuna Tartare

Tuna tartare or steak tartare? Today we're going the seafood route. Using the same marinated tuna, I made tuna tartare two different ways. The tuna tartare bites are so easy and perfect as a group appetizer while the stacked tartare takes a bit longer and is better suited for 1-2 people. For this recipe, I'll use the bites version. If you'd like to try the other way, you will just need rice and avocado then you stack everything on top of each other.


I've only ever ordered this when out at restaurants, but it is surprisingly easy to make! Just be sure to use sushi grade tuna only.

Ingredients

  • Crackers of choice
  • 300g sushi grade tuna
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 jalapeno, sliced
  • 1 tbsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 2 scallions, sliced
  • black & white sesame seeds to garnish (optional)
Instructions

Dice the tuna then place into a bowl
Add the tamari or soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and scallions
Marinate the tuna for approximately 30 minutes
Set out your crackers of choice then add a slice of avocado, spoonful of marinated tuna, and a slice of jalapeno
Sprinkle with balck & white sesame seeds and enjoy!
