Hard Boiled Eggs in an Instant Pot

There are many ways to cook eggs in the shell. You can boil them, cook them in the oven, or my new favorite- in my Instant Pot. Using a pressure cooker makes perfect hard boiled eggs that are easy to peel every time.

Start with eggs fresh from the fridge. You can use cold eggs no problem. We have backyard ducks that lay eggs that we eat so I used fresh duck eggs.

You will need a Instant Pot, and use the pressure cook setting. It only takes 4 minutes for the eggs to cook plus pressurizing time so just under 20 minutes total.

Place the eggs on the rack in the Instant Pot. Only later them one egg deep to prevent cracking.

Pour one inch of water in the bottom of the pot. Secure the lid and set to pressure cook for 4 minutes.

After the timer is up, let the Instant Pot depressurize and remove the eggs carefully. They will be hot.

Let the eggs cool and they will peel perfectly!

5,5,5. 5 minutes pressure cooked, then after 5 minutes do quick release pressure and then put eggs in ice bath for 5 minutes. Works every time.

If I boil my eggs for 8 mins I would have perfect hard boiled eggs and save 7 mins into the deal.

    • Are there any egg bits left? 20 to 25 minutes? Are you boiling the eggs or simmering?

I do eggs in 5 minutes and immediately plunge into ice water. Peel immediately and never the funky gray ring on the yolks. Always fully cooked.

And sometimes I like a little "jammy" - so cook less time.

Everyone has their "method" so do what you like!

And enjoy raw eggs but one must know where the eggs were raised so they are safe to consume. Also steak tartar and sashimi . . .
