Chocolate Hummus

Yes, you read that right! Chocolate hummus. I too had my reservations, but when given a container of store-bought chocolate hummus I had to try it out. I was shocked - it tasted just like pudding but healthier for you! The store bought version had some ingredients that I would typically avoid, so I decided to try making it myself. It is super easy and requires minimal ingredients. No cooking is required, all you need is a blender or food processor.

If you're a fan of nutella, you will enjoy this! Add hazelnuts to the recipe to give it a similar flavor. You can use this in smoothies, dip fruit into it, eat on its own, or use as a spread.

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained & rinsed
  • 4 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk of choice
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup or sweetener of choice

Combine all ingredients in a food processor until smooth
Adjust according to taste (may need more sweetener)
If the mix is too chunky, add some more milk
  • Add hazelnuts to the mix for a flavor more similar to nutella. If using chickpeas, toast them and peel the skins. You may need more milk to smooth out the texture.
