How to Make Cream Cheese Fruit Dip

First, be sure to soften the block of cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature. If you forget to pull it out ahead of time, scoop it out of the container and put it in a microwave safe bowl or plate and microwave in 10 second intervals until just soft enough to use a hand mixer on it.

Place the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl and whip with an electric hand mixer on low speed until very soft and smooth. There should be no little lumps in the cream cheese. If there are keep on whipping it. Then, add the marshmallow creme, vanilla extract, and lemon zest. Mix with the hand mixer until well combined and smooth.

Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days. If you make this dip ahead give it a quick stir before putting it in your serving bowl.

You can but it may not mix very well since it is a small amount compared to the size of the stand mixer bowl. However, if you are making a double batch a stand mixer will work perfectly!

Is there anything I can use instead of the marshmallow cream?

Are you trying to avoid marshmallows? If not you can melt down marshmallows and add a little corn syrup to that so it’s soft like the crème. Otherwise if you trying to avoid marshmallows maybe try a little heavy cream and some powdered sugar? I haven’t tried any of these substitutes myself but they should work.

I've made this for years, with just the marshmallow fluff and cream cheese. My kids say the dip tastes like cheesecake, and they LOVE it!
