Homemade Spaghetti Sauce With Ground Chicken

Hi everyone! This is my family’s famous spaghetti sauce recipe and I’m so excited to share it with you.

My daughter, Amani, loves the way I make this sauce, especially when I add pepper flakes. The combination of bell peppers gives this sauce an amazing flavor.

Amani is not a fan of onions or peppers, but once she tried it, she truly loved it. The fun part about making this sauce was making the video with her, her excitement and determination in making it right was priceless.

This sauce, I am sure your kids will love it. Try making it with your own kids and have them add anything they like. That’s the fun part!

Ingredient

1 to 2 tsp of Olive Oil

1 tsp of parsley (dried or fresh)

1 tsp of dried oregano

1/2 cup of fresh basil

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/4 tsp of red chili flakes

1 can of tomato purée

2 tsp of tomato paste

1/2 cup white onion

1 cup of of mix red, yellow, orange small bell pepper

Black pepper and salt to taste

1 tsp of sugar optional

1 lb. of ground chicken (I cooked and seasoned the chicken prior to adding it to sauce)

Instructions

In a separate pan cook the chicken, seasoned with parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper on medium heat. Set aside

While the meat is getting cooked, add olive oil in a deep pot on medium-high. Add the bell pepper, and onion and simmer until translucent. Add the garlic and simmer for a few minutes.

Add the can of tomato purée, tomato paste, fresh basil, dry ingredients, sugar (optional) salt, and pepper to taste. Stir until well combined and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and, simmer for 15 minutes.

Now you can add the chicken and cook for 1 hour covered. The longer the sauce cooks, the better the flavors. (Check sauce for taste)

Chicken is optional the sauce tastes amazing alone without the meat.

I made this with my favorite pasta Rigatoni, but you could enjoy it with any pasta, mashed potatoes, or bread.

Enjoy!
