Easy Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

This recipe has been in my family for years. My kids loved it growing up and we had it every Monday night. When I was a teenager my aunt had made me this one time when I stayed over and then she taught me how to make it. I couldn't wait to make it for my hubby when we first got married. Thankfully he liked it and it has been a staple every since. Now my kids make if for their children. It has changed some over the years when I first learned it was using tomato paste, I now use crushed tomatoes. But the spices have stayed the same and these days I am adding a lot less sugar to the recipe. But it still tastes amazing! It is a thicker spaghetti sauce and has a little sweetness, but that balances out the acidity from the tomatoes. I hope you will try this and let me know how you liked it. And feel free to use your own spin on it add additional spices or take away and just have fun cooking!

I always shred some fresh parmesan cheese on top and for the pictures sake I added a little green with Parsley.

I use a half of an onion again if you want to use a whole one go ahead. Italian spices, garlic powder and fresh garlic cloves.

I use a large can of the crushed tomatoes and I add in a little beef broth. That is a newer addition and it just rounds it all out.

I simmer on the stove for one to two hours depending on how thick you want it.
