This simple 4-ingredient Vibrant Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing will add a tangy and sweet freshness to elevate any salad.

Looking to elevate your salad? Homemade dressing always does the trick. And this Vibrant Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing is the foolproof way to add complex flavor with just 4 simple ingredients.

Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing Tips and Tricks

Fresh vs Frozen

There is definitely a difference between fresh and frozen raspberries. Berries are mostly water, so when they are frozen and the water turns to ice, it expands. This breaks down the structure of the fruit, resulting in a different consistency. So, usually, I specify which to use.

In this case, however, since we are blending the berries, you can use either fresh or frozen and get a wonderful Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing. I have used both and have had great success.

Buying them from the freezer aisle usually means they are frozen at peak freshness, so the tangy flavor it lends to the dressing is present. It’s also more economical and can prevent food waste!

Green tip: Consider buying frozen fruit when you are buying it out of season. It’s always best to eat seasonally to lower your environmental footprint by way of food miles.

The Buzz on Honey

The honey in this Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing is the perfect dose of sweetness to pair with the tart raspberries and acidic vinegar. Honey has a complex caramel and floral flavor, giving this concoction a beautiful aromatic freshness.

That being said, there are substitutes that work really well if you choose to make this vegan. My favorite option is agave nectar, but it is a little bit sweeter than honey. Use 2 teaspoons of agave nectar to replace 1 tablespoon of honey.

Green tip: try buying raw, locally sourced honey. Generally, smaller-scale honeybee operations harvest honey in the fall, when the bees produce it in excess.

Why Small-Batch Is Best

This recipe was designed to serve just 1 salad, but can easily be doubled or tripled. It’s best fresh, so making it in small batches as you need it will give you optimal flavor and color.

If you do have leftovers, seal it and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Green tip: Did you know that of the billions of pounds of food wasted annually, it is estimated that 50% of it happens in our homes. It’s always best to avoid food waste as much as you can!
