- This delicious Miso Tahini Dressing is my go-to recipe when I want to enjoy a meal of simple steamed veggies bowl.

If you have never had this super delicious miso tahini dressing, you have been missing out!

We have all heard about the benefits of a plant-based diet.

For me this is not a hard sell at all since I love pretty much all veggies.

Sometimes, I am in the mood to create or make a more elaborate recipe to bring out all the natural flavors. Other times, I need something quick and easy. Especially when it’s just for one person it really needs to be fast and simple.

The ingredients

Enter this delicious Miso Tahini Dressing or Sauce. It combines the 5 different tastes – I could just eat it straight out of the jar, no veggies needed 😜. But seriously, this recipes has a tangy, sweet-sour, deep creamy taste that goes with pretty much anything. For this creation, I blend up tahini, miso, rice vinegar, sesame oil, olive oil, ginger, honey, and garlic. A high-speed blender such as a Vitamix or Blendtec is the ideal choice here but any good blender will do.

For a satisfying meal, I steam up whatever veggies I can find. Most often I use sweet potatoes, broccoli, cabbage, zucchini, kale and/or spinach. First I steam the harder veggies that I cut into small chunks (the hungrier I am the smaller the chunks …). Later, I add the more delicate ones later and steam them in my steamer basket until soft.

Putting a meal together

In the meantime, I like to cut up some avocado and add it to my bowl with a good helping of sauerkraut or kimchi . I pile the steamed veggies into the bowl as well and pour the miso tahini dressing over everything. When I am in the mood, I might add a small helping of protein. That can be a piece of chicken or salmon, canned sardines, or tempeh. For extra crunch, I like to sprinkle hemp seeds or pumpkin seeds on top.

Because the miso tahini dressing combines so many different flavors, it not only goes with pretty much any vegetable but actually pulls all the flavors together. Extra benefit: miso provides a nice helping of gut-friendly bacteria!

This Miso Tahini Dressing is so delicious that I never tire of it and neither does my family. We call it “the secret sauce” – because it tastes so good that it feels like it might be a secret worth keeping.

How are you using this miso tahini sauce? With what creative combinations are you coming up? Let me know in the comments below!

Excuse my ignorance, but what are miso and tahini? At 84 yrs old, I have never heard of these.

Miso is a fermented paste and tahini is a condiment made from toasted ground hulled sesame. You can find both of these in the grocery store.
