Helpful Equipment for Honey Lime Dressing

Technically speaking you can make this recipe with nothing more than a mixing bowl and a whisk. However, if you want to elevate the dressing to the next level you should definitely use a high speed blender.

  • Why Use a blender? Well, the chilis are whole. So if you don’t have a blender you have to cut them by hand. Even after you cut the chilis you’re still going to have large chunks of chili in your dressing. Blending the dressing will create a smooth and creamy dressing without any spicy chili chunks!
  • Citrus juicer: A citrus juicer will make it a lot easier for you to get every drop of juice out of those precious limes.

How to Use Honey Lime Dressing

There are many ways to enjoy this delicious dressing! Here are a few of my favorite ways to use it:

  • Over a southwest style salad
  • To dressing a fruit salad
  • Marinate salmon or shrimp
  • Marinate BBQ chicken

How to Juice A Lime

Juicing a lime is pretty easy. Here’s how:

Without a citrus juicer

  • Cut the lime in half crosswise.
  • Hold one of the halves over a small bowl or measuring cup with the cut side facing down.
  • Squeeze the lime with your hand, applying firm pressure and twisting it back and forth as you go.
  • Repeat with the other half of the lime.

With a citrus juicer

  • Cut the lime in half crosswise.
  • Place one of the halves inside the citrus juicer. Use the lever to squeeze the juicer closed over a small bowl or measuring cup to catch the juice.
  • Repeat with the other half of the lime.

How Much is Juice in One Lime

The amount of juice in one lime can vary depending on its size and juiciness. However, on average, one lime yields about two tablespoons of juice.

Some limes have more juice than others, this depends on the size of the lime. How much the lime tree was watered. Is ripe it is and if it is in season or not. Large limes harvested while in season from well watered trees will have more juice.

If you need more juice, you can always use a citrus juicer or roll the lime on a hard surface before cutting and squeezing.

What Are the Health Benefits of Lime Juice?

According to Healthline: Lime juice is a rich source of vitamin C, which is essential for immune function, skin health, and wound healing. It also contains antioxidants that can help protect against chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease.

Additionally, lime juice may aid digestion and promote hydration. Eating limes can also help prevent kidney stones and help with iron absorption which is great if you’re anemic or vegan.

How Long Does Honey Lime Dressing Last?

This honey lime dressing recipe will last for up two two weeks in the fridge and for up to 6 months in the freezer. Homemade vinaigrettes typically last for two weeks in the freezer unless they were made with fresh ingredients like onions or herbs. Dressings made with onions or herbs will only last for one week.

What is the Best Way to Store Honey Lime Vinaigrette?

Is Honey Lime Dressing Gluten Free?

Yes, honey lime vinaigrette is naturally gluten-free, as it contains no wheat, barley, or rye. However, be sure to check the labels of any store-bought ingredients to ensure they are also gluten-free.

Is Honey Lime Vinaigrette Keto Friendly and Low Carb?

My favorite way to store leftover dressing is in a reusable salad dressing container. Reusable salad dressing containers are Tupperware that are deigned with a spout to pour dressing directly onto salads.
