Creamy Apple Cider Dressing

Creamy Apple Cider Vinaigrette dressing goes perfectly with anything! Naturally gluten-free and vegan, this sweet, yet tangy, dressing is the perfect way to dress up your salads or dip veggies into.

I cringe when I have to buy store-bought salad dressing. Don’t get me wrong, there are many brands that produce quality salad dressings that are not filled with junk, but those usually cost you an arm and a leg.

Therefore, whenever I can make my own salad dressing, I do.

I believe two of the biggest reasons someone may shy away from making their own salad dressing are: time and ingredients.

I can totally relate to this - I hate having to track down an obscure ingredient at the grocery store.

Evermore, I hate having to ADD an ingredient to my grocery list because it is likely I will forget to actually add it (I have about 10 notes in my iPhone with what I need to get at the grocery store).

I also do not want to make a salad dressing recipe that takes forever to make when my salad itself takes virtually no time. So, being a lazy vegan recipe creator, I knew I wanted a super simple recipe to share with you.

So, I combatted both these issues - this creamy apple vinegar dressing is made with ingredients you likely already have AND it takes less than 5 minutes to make. Win, win, right?

Why Make Your Own Creamy Apple Cider Dressing?

I know, it is easy to buy dressing when you are at the store... but it is just as easy to make one yourself!

Cost - I always am searching for the cheaper version of things, especially in comparison to how long it will take to make.

Expensive Item > Easily Made at Home = I am making it at home.

Yes, I can make a lot of things from scratch, but if it takes me over an hour, is it worth it? It depends.

Well, this recipe is totally worth it, as the time it takes to make this is minimum. It takes less than 5 minutes to make, and all of the ingredients are affordable!

Ingredients - Have you ever picked up a bottle of store bought dressing just to see over a dozen of ingredients? Yah, I do not want that in my body. Making your own dressing allows you to control what is in it.

Refined Sugar-Free - So many store-bought dressings have refined sugar in them! Why?! I am not against sugar, but I do not want it in a dressing. Making your own dressing allows you to control this.

Versatile - If you do not like salt and pepper, don't add them! Hate olive oil and prefer avocado oil, go for it! Making your own dressing allows you to fit your dressing to your dietary needs (and tastes!).

Eco Friendly - I had to add this one in! Making your dressing at home and storing it in a reusable container is the best way to cut down on the trash added to the world.

Substitutions

You may use white wine vinegar in place of apple cider vinegar.

If you do not like olive oil and prefer a different oil in your dressing, use that.

You may omit mayo, but it will not be as creamy.

If you cannot tolerate garlic, you may remove it.

Tips For Making This Creamy Apple Cider Vinaigrette

This recipe is incredibly easy to make!

First, you roughly mince the garlic. You are doing this roughly because it will get thrown into a blender. However, you do want to chop it to ensure it does get blended.

Place all ingredients into a blender and blend for 30 seconds. Stop. Then blend again for 20 seconds. This will ensure all of the garlic pieces are blended. You may also do this in a food processor.

It is that simple!

If you do not have a blender or food processor, that is okay too. The salad dressing may be slightly chunky. Be sure to finely chop the garlic to ensure that the salad dressing is as smooth as possible.

Tips for Storing The Dressing

This creamy apple vinegar dressing must be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator. The dressing will last up to 30 days.

You will need to shake this dressing before using it, as it will separate if it sits for more than 5 minutes.

If you notice that the top of your dressing has solidified when refrigerated (due to the olive oil), allow it to sit out for 5 -10 minutesm then shake it. This will allow it to liquidate.

What Can I Put This Delicious Vegan Dressing On?

The possibilities are endless! I love to top my green salads and pasta salad with this dressing. Also, I enjoy putting it on top of roasted vegetables or even raw veggies. I have been told it tastes good on meat as well.

How much apple cider and how much oil?

  • Love your style. On rare occasion I have succumbed to a store bought dressing. 99% of the time I make my own for the very same reason. You know what is in it, can control the components to add or subtract according to the people you are feeding and the cost. All of the ingredients are inexpensive and plentiful. Excited to try your recipe. My bubble group is trying to ward off the local vampires and consume copious amounts of garlic, either raw, roasted or smoked. Going to prepare two recipes, yours and the excessive garlic version. Either way it's going to be a hit. Thanks for sharing!
