Learn how to make a jalapeno ranch dip for game day snacks or as an appetizer for holiday gatherings with this dairy free jalapeno ranch dip recipe. You can’t have a game day or holiday gathering without finger food for your guests. This easy game day snack recipe is perfect for friends and family to enjoy while watching football around the tv, even if they have dietary restrictions.

I’ve never been a huge fan of football. I’m the type of person who will watch because everyone else is watching, and I basically have no other choice if I don’t want to sulk off on my own. (Which I’m also totally fine doing.) Typically, my game day activity is reserved for the Superbowl. And that’s mostly to watch the ads. Although, these days, I often catch them the next day on Hulu. I did happen to watch an interesting college football game recently though. It was a Gators game. Just before halftime, things basically exploded into what looked like a hockey match, and I admit, I was entertained.

That said, I can always appreciate game day snacks. Chips and dip are probably my favorite game day snack idea. They’re quick and easy, and everyone is a fan. Unfortunately, even easy game day snacks ideas can come with challenges. It’s not uncommon to know someone who has dietary restrictions. Whether it’s by choice, for personal or health reasons, or by necessity due to an allergy.

My mom, for example, has become increasingly lactose intolerant as she’s aged. And me, well, dairy triggers my eczema even as an adult.

My diary free jalapeno ranch dip recipe is an easy game day snack idea that takes the guesswork out of finding an option that suits everyone. Not only is it vegan friendly, it’s also gluten and dairy free.

While ranch seasoning mix typically contains buttermilk and calcium lactate, there are dairy free ranch mix alternatives you buy. Alternately, I also provide a recipe for you to make your own dairy free ranch seasoning mix. To compensate for the omission of milk products in my jalapeno ranch dip, this dairy free game day snack recipe uses a combination of coconut milk and vegenaise. (You can also use regular mayonnaise if this dip doesn’t need to be vegan.) There are a number of vegenaise options you can buy from the grocery store to make my jalapeno ranch dip recipe. Alternately, you can also make your own vegan mayo.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup vegenaise
  • 1/2 coconut cream
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 teaspoon fine ground sea salt
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 Tablespoon dairy free ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seed powder
  • 2 jalapenos, diced
  • small bunch cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 Tablespoons lemon juice, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice, to taste
Instructions

Deseed the jalapenos, if desired, and dice.
Wash and dry the cilantro. Chop approximately 1/3 to 1/2 cup, depending on your taste. Set aside.
Combine the vegenaise in a bowl along with the coconut milk, coconut cream, lemon juice and sea salt.
Mix well to combine. Adjust to taste, if desired, by adding additional lemon juice or salt, as needed.
Stir in the chopped cilantro, diced jalapenos, dairy free ranch seasoning mix, cumin seed powder, and lime juice.
Mix well, then taste. Adjust with additional spices if desired.
Tips
  • When adding the coconut cream, you’ll want to use only the thick coconut cream found at the top of can. For the coconut milk, you can use straight coconut milk, or the thinner coconut cream from the bottom of the can.
  • For a spicier jalapeno ranch dip, leave the seeds in. You can also store your dip in the refrigerator overnight before serving. This will intensify the flavors of the dip. It will also increase the spiciness of this game day snack.
