Homemade popsicles are a summer staple in our house and I love to try different flavors every summer. Limonana is the best drink in Israel, and now it’s in a popsicle form, you’re welcome!

Israeli love their Nana (mint) tea with lemon and I am assuming that’s how this famous slushy drink began. Freshly squeezed lemon juice, blended with ice, mint and sugar make this super yummy drink turned ice pop and trust me, you’re going to love it!

What is Limonana?

Limonana is an Israeli lemonade that you can buy at any cafe or restaurant throughout the country. Freshly squeezed lemonade with nana, also known as mint.

The more popular Limonana Garus, is the same drink but blended into a frozen slushy. The perfect summer drink which is favored by all Israelis.

What ingredients do you need for Limonana Popsicles?

There are only 5 ingredients in this delicious treat and they are all easy to get!

  1. Lemon juice
  2. Sugar
  3. Mint leaves
  4. Ice
  5. Water
How to make this homemade popsicle recipe?

I know I say all my recipes are easy – because they are! – but this one is realllllly easy! All you need to do is blend up all the ingredients and pour the mixture into the molds, and voila, Limonana popsicles!

How to store Limonana popsicles?

The best way to store homemade popsicles is in small cellophane bags. If you can find bags that are the same size as the popsicles that would be best, but if you can’t any size will do.

If you can’t find cellophane bags, you can use basic sandwich bags.

Place the ice pops into the bags and then store them together in the freezer.

How to get the homemade popsicle recipe out of the molds?

Getting popsicles out of their molds is one of the biggest challenges when making homemade popsicles and I imagine it will differ between the various Popsicle Mold options. I use a silicone Popsicle Mold that I got on Amazon. The best way to remove the popsicles from this silicone mold is to push them out from the bottom, don’t pull them from the stick.

If you have a hard plastic Popsicle Mold, I recommend running them under warm water until the popsicles pop out.
