It doesn’t matter if you are making air fryer chocolate cupcakes or an air fryer vanilla cupcake, the final result is moist and fluffy cupcakes.
Air fryer cupcakes are your go-to sweet treat for any celebration – birthday parties, holidays and potlucks and more!
Absolutely! Cupcakes are a delicious dessert that can be made in an air fryer quickly and easily. Air fryer cupcakes are one of the most popular treats to make with an air fryer, and they taste just as good- or better- than traditional oven baked cupcakes. The air circulation in the basket will help cook the cupcake evenly, so make sure not to overcrowd the basket.
The first step to making perfect cupcakes in your air fryer is preparing your batter. You can use a box cake mix or homemade batter – whichever you prefer. If using a box mix, prepare it according to the instructions on the package. For homemade batters, mix together the wet and dry ingredients until they are just combined – do not overmix! This will ensure that your cupcakes rise nicely when cooked in the air fryer.
Prepping Your Air Fryer
Once you have prepared your cupcake batter, it’s time to preheat your air fryer oven. Preheat it to 330 degrees f. Once preheated, lightly grease your air-fryer basket with cooking spray or butter so that your cupcakes don’t stick when cooked.
Place three empty paper cupcake liners into the air fryer basket. Scoop the batter using a cookie scoop into each liner filling them 2/3rds of the way full.
After a cooking time of 6 minutes, check if they are done by inserting a toothpick into one of them – if it comes out clean, they are ready! If the tester still has runny batter on it, place the cupcakes back into the air fryer and bake at 3-minute increments until done. When they’re done cooking, remove them from the basket with a spatula or tongs and cool on a cooling rack.
Repeat the process over until you have used all of your batter.
Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting with your favorite frosting recipe, such as chocolate buttercream or vanilla buttercream.
It depends on the type of air fryer you have! Generally speaking, metal muffin tins are safe to use in most air fryers as long as they fit and can be securely fitted inside. However, if your air fryer is smaller or doesn’t come with a baking tray, then using a metal muffin tin isn’t really an option then use individual silicone cupcake liners or paper muffin cups.
