Here is a delicious homemade chocolate bark recipe that is the perfect sweet treat for the Easter holiday season! (Or can be made during the Spring season time of year.) This is a simple recipe that can be made with kids. The results can be given as gifts during any springtime event, including Easter and Mother’s day!

this idea

Ingredients:

6 oz white chocolate, melted w/ 1 teaspoon coconut oil (you can get white chocolate squares, white chocolate melts in the bulk section, or white chocolate chips.)

Pretzel twists, 2 for each butterfly

Square pretzels, 1 for each flower

Pastel M&M’s, 5 for each flower, 4 for each butterfly

Pink, yellow, purple, blue sugar sprinkles

Pink, yellow, purple, blue frosting in piping bags with small cut tip

Themed sprinkles, such as pastel-colored candy balls or sprinkles.

Preparation Instructions:

1. Melt 2 oz of white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30-second increments, stirring in between. When the chocolate is melted, pull it out so you don’t burn it in the microwave.

2. Place wax paper to line a cookie sheet. This way the white chocolate-covered pretzels won’t stick to the sheet pan.

2. Flowers – Dip 1 square pretzel for each flower, tap off excess chocolate. You’ll want a thin layer of white chocolate on each pretzel. Place them on the prepared baking sheet covered in wax paper.

4. Immediately arrange 5 M&M’s of one color in a circle shape on the pretzel as shown. Add the coordinating color of the candied flower to the center, if you have them. Let them cool until the chocolate is fully hardened and the M&M’s stick to the pretzel.

6. Repeat the process for each pastel color M&M, so that you’ll have 5 pastel pretzel flowers when you are all done.

7. Now it’s time to make butterfly wings out of the other shaped pretzel. Dip 2 twist pretzels into the melted white chocolate for each butterfly, tap off excess chocolate, place on wax paper lined tray. You could also make the butterflies with melting chocolates that are milk or dark chocolate. Mixing the type of chocolate gives this simple recipe a litte bit more variety, depending on chocolate preferences.

8 . Immediately sprinkle both pretzels with one color sugar sprinkles.

9. Repeat process for each sugar sprinkle color. Place tray in fridge to let the chocolate cool and set.

10. Melt remaining white chocolate with coconut oil and pour onto a wax paper lined baking sheet. Again, you can use different types of chocolate during this stage and melt milk or dark chocolate for this step instead.

11. When the chocolate has been poured, use a butter knife to spread an even layer into about a 10-inch rectangle shape.

12. Place 4 M&M’s of one color in a straight line anywhere on the rectangle.

13. Place the corresponding color pretzel wing set on either side of the line.

14. Repeat for remaining butterfly colors.

15. Randomly place pretzel flowers around the rectangle where desired.

16. Fill in open spaces with themed sprinkles, sugar sprinkles, etc.

17. Use colored frosting to create eyes, antennae, and wing detail on each butterfly.

18. Place bark in fridge to set

Other toppings you may want to add to your spring themed white chocolate bark:

  • course sea salt
  • orange zest
  • peppermint essential oil
  • broken candy canes
  • dried fruit
  • coconut flakes
  • almond to make almond bark
  • pumpkin seeds

19. The fun part is, after the chocolate has set, is to break or slice the bark on a cutting board, into serving-size pieces. These make a great gift for Easter, Mother’s day, or even Valentine’s Day! This is a super easy recipe that can use different types of chocolates and toppings to create the perfect flavor combinations!

If you try these, be sure to tell us about them in the comments – especially if you combined different chocolates in your spring-themed chocolate bark!
