An easy recipe for Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread that will have your kitchen smelling like the best of Fall! Mini-loaves of this apple cinnamon bread are perfect for gift-giving

I am channeling ‘all things fall’ right now. I mean, college football is on, so it must be fall, right?

If I am truthful, his time of the year I find myself baking as much for the aroma that fills my kitchen as for the actual food. When I think about fall, I naturally begin thinking about my fall bread recipes, and when ‘cinnamon’ and ‘apple’ are ingredients, I know my house will soon smell divine. This apple cinnamon swirl bread fits the bill perfectly.

This easy Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread recipe not only includes those critical ‘fall’ ingredients of cinnamon and apple but the brown sugar in the bread gives it that distinctive dark color, rich taste, and moist texture that only brown sugar can.

And if you are looking to gift some mini loaves of this Cinnamon Apple Swirl Bread, the recipe includes some guidance for those smaller loaves as well.

BTW…if you are in your kitchen as much as I am, you might find this Measuring Equivalents chart as handy as I do! I have it posted on the inside of one of my cabinet doors and find myself referring to it frequently. Pop over to the blog to have it sent to your inbox

Ingredients
Bread Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup packed, light brown sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Swirl Ingredients:
  • 1 apple, cut into 1/3" pieces
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Instructions
For the Bread:
Preheat the oven to 350°
Generously spray a 9 X 5 loaf pan with cooking spray. Cut a piece of parchment paper the width of the pan (9" wide) that will extend beyond the top of the pan. Place the paper in the pan and spray the paper with cooking spray. My favorite cooking spray is Bak-Klene ZT
Whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt tother and set aside.
In a larger bowl, combine egg, brown sugar, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir well until smooth.
Mix together swirl ingredients
Pour 2/3 of batter into prepared loaf pan. Distribute 1/2 of apple swirl mixture evenly over the batter, followed by the remaining batter and remaining swirl mixture.
Using a butter knife or skewer, gently swirl the batter and apple swirl mixture together.
Bake for 60 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.
Tips
  • For mini-loaves, reduce the oven temperature to 325° and check your loaves after 25 minutes. They should take between 25-35 minutes.
