Ingredients

Rice Cereal Treats

  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups puffed rice cereal
  • 1/2 cup cake mix (optional for more flavor)
  • non-stick spray

Thick Buttercream Frosting

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, room temp
  • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 cups confectioners powdered sugar
  • water
  • green food coloring

Decoration Ingredients

  • Black Cookie Icing
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Sprinkles
  • Edible marker in red

Instructions


Make Rice Krispie treats and press into pan to make nice and firm. Cut into rectangles.
Make Thick Buttercream frosting and add a thick layer to the top of the treats. Decorate with more frosting, candy, and sprinkles.

Tips

  • Use your hands sprayed with non-stick spray to firmly press the treats into the pan after cooking. Allow them to cool completely before cutting into rectangles.
  • Use the edible marker to make the candy eyeballs look bloodshot for an added creepy Halloween touch.
