It might not TECNICALLY be fall yet…but in MY mind, summer is long over and it is time to bring on the apples, pumpkin spice, and crunchy leaves…YES PLEASE!!! I am already in FULL ON apple baking mode. Good thing it is almost hoodie season too…cause the summer body I never got this year is ready for big fluffy sweaters and Christmas cookies…and of course some yummy air fryer apple pie…yummmmm!!!!

apple pie recipe

I started off the baking season with this yummy air fryer apple pie and it was a GOOD choice!! Yummy apple goodness, flaky sugary crust, only 2 ingredients, and ALMOST zero effort or baking skill required…MY KIND OF RECIPE!!! If you want to watch a quick video on how I made them…pop on over to INSTAGRAM and check for this recipe in my reels.

This “recipe” is SUPER versatile. I used a LEAF COOKIE CUTTER this time around, but you could use a glass or biscuit cutter to make circles for round hand pies. OR change out the pie filling or cookie cutter shapes for EVERY season and holiday. Last year we made hearts for Valentine’s Day and my kids thought they were EXTRA special. Everything is always better when it is a fun shape!!

Ingredients

  • 1 Package ready made pie crust You can make your own crust too of course…but that defeats the SIMPLE part:)
  • 1 can apple pie filling You can substitute any pie filling here.
  • cinnamon and sugar optional
Instructions

Let pie crusts cool to room temperature and then roll out.
Cut out shapes from the pie crust with cookie cutters or use the top of a cup to make round pies.
Use a food processor (or just slice by hand) to cut up the apple slices in the pie filling. Smaller pieces fit better into small pies. I also like to add a bit of extra cinnamon to the pie filling…I like mine EXTRA cinnamon-ey:)
Put a SMALL spoonful of apple filling in the middle of half of the cutouts.
Place the other half of the cutouts onto the tops of each filled pie.
Use a fork to crimp the edges together. Just make sure all edges are sealed up to keep the apple in.
Cut a slit or two or poke a few holes into the top of the pie to vent.
Place hand pies into the air fryer. All air fryers are different…so baking times will vary. But I cook at 375 degrees for 7-8 minutes. I just keep checking every couple of minutes until the crust gets a nice golden brown.
Lightly spray with cooking spray and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. This part is optional, but it makes them EXTRA CUTE!!!

"Let pie crust cool to room temperature,?? That doesn't make sense. Why would it need to cool isn't it refrigerated?

What she ment to say was let the pie crust warm up to room temp so it is easier to roll out

I don’t have an air fryer. How would you bake these in a conventional oven?
