How To Make Baked Apples For Two

This is a nostalgic recipe for me. It is one that my husband and I would make when it was just the two of us. Just starting out with our first apartment, we were so excited to cook together.
I am not sure how we started to make this, but it has stayed in our autumn dessert rotation over the years. I remember not long after the first time we made these, I went thrifting and found the cutest pair of apple baking dishes (I show them further down). I’ve kept them all these years and we still use them.

Gather Ingredients
Remove Apple Cores
After you remove the cores, place in a baking dish. A Pyrex casserole dish works well, especially when you need to make enough for a group.
Fill Apples With Ingredients
Bake for at least 30 minutes. Depending on your oven and apple size, this may take longer.
Serve With Vanilla Ice Cream
So yummy and easy. A perfect last minute dish for unexpected company.
Speaking of entertaining, here is a fun project for a rustic serving piece.
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed this recipe.
How To Make Baked Apples For Two
Recipe details
Ingredients
- 2 Large apples
- 1/8 Cup brown sugar to split between apples
- 1/4 Teaspoon cinnamon to split between apples
- 2 Teaspoons butter to split between apples
- A few walnuts to sprinkle inside ( I use candied walnuts from Trader Joe’s)
Instructions
- Remove cores from apples. I used a paring knife and spoon but you can use an apple corer if you like.
- Place apples in baking dish.
- Fill apples with ingredients. The butter should melt down and make pan greased. Some recipes have you leave the bottoms intact and add about 3/4 cup of boiling water to the pan.
- Bake at preheated 375 for 30 to 45 minutes.
Tips
- Of course you can double up the ingredients if you need to make more than just two. If you use large apples, you can split one. I share one with my son and it is just enough, especially after adding vanilla ice cream on the side!
