What Is The Healthiest Liquid To Add To A Smoothie?
If you are looking to make this smoothie as healthy as possible, then water is the best option for a liquid to use. The water would be calorie-free and simple to add to the recipe. If you want the healthiest liquid, but still a nice and creamy texture, you will want to use unsweetened almond milk or unsweetened soy milk. Try to avoid using sweetened ice creams or creamers in the smoothie because these types of ingredients are high in fat and sugars.
How To Prepare A Beet For A Smoothie?
Begin by removing the green tops off the roots of the beet. Leave about an inch of the stem because this will preserve the flavor. Make sure to wash the beet very well before adding it to the smoothie. Now, you have two options, place the beets in the smoothie raw or you can roast them. If you are adding them raw you will need a strong blender. Peel the beets using a knife or peeler and cut them into tiny squares before adding. The second option is to roast them which will give the recipe a smoother consistency. To save as much time as possible if you want to roast them. Wash and wrap in foil before placing into a hot oven for 1 hour the night before. You can place the roasted beets into an airtight container in the fridge until you are ready to use them.
Using beets in a smoothie can be of use for many different aspects of your life. You can use beet smoothies for weight loss, detox, digestion, bone and muscle health, hormones, and more. Beets are known as super-food because they contain nitrates, vitamins, and antioxidants to help your body. Just by adding this one vegetable, you can start your morning feeling amazing!
Do You Need To Add Ice To Smoothies?
Ice is not an ingredient needed for smoothies. Even if your smoothie calls for ice, you can use frozen fruits to help with the thickness of the smoothie. However, if you want to use fresh fruits for this berry smoothie, you will want to use about 1/2 cup of ice to make a thick and cold texture. Make sure to add the liquid before the ice to easily blend.
How To Add Protein To A Beet And Berries Smoothie?
Two of my favorite options to add protein to this beet smoothie is by using one of two things. You can use greek yogurt which will not only help with protein but helps give the smoothie an even creamier texture. And, the second option is Protein Powder which will give you the source directly.
What Fruit Goes Well With Beets?
In this smoothie, the best fruit to have with beets is strawberries and bananas. Although, beets are only mildly flavored which makes them fit well with almost any fruit you have. If you find yourself wanting to cover up the taste of the beets, the raspberries in this recipe do a fantastic job of hiding the beet flavor.
This berry smoothie is a super great way to get in all the nutrients you need for the day, but it’s not quite enough to be used as a meal replacement. If you need a more filling smoothie, try using a few of these options for this beet smoothie:
- Ginger is an insane ingredient to pair with the beets to hide that earthy flavor along with the raspberries in this recipe.
- Hemp Hearts are a way to get protein as a plant-based option.
- Almond Butter can provide healthy fats as well as fiber.
- Avocados can be another great source of healthy fats.
Can I Use Other Milk?
Some great milk alternatives you can use instead of almond milk are:
- Soy Milk
- Coconut Milk
- Oat Milk
- Rice Milk
- Cashew Milk

Can You Store This Beet And Berries Smoothie?
Although I prefer a fresh smoothie to enjoy, you can store this berries smoothie for later use if need be. You can place the blended smoothie into a sealed container or cover it with a lid. It can be placed in the freezer or stored in the fridge if you don’t want a super cold smoothie. Beet smoothies when stored in the fridge will come with a little bit of foam on top, but all you need to do is mix and enjoy!

Hi, I think this would be a great smoothie. My problem is beets. Can they be canned beets.
I was wondering the same thing. Seems like that would be a good option after reading through everything. This sounds amazing and looks so good.
