Simple 3 Ingredient Frozen Hot Chocolate

The week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is always a bit of a blur. Eat, watch movies, play games, eat and repeat. This year the goodies have been an even bigger temptation!! I honestly am a little worried that when Covid restrictions lift, I won’t fit into any pants…or even hoodies at the rate I am going. But that is a WHOLE other story. Today…it is ALLL about yummy cocoa-y goodness. With just 3 ingredients and very little prep work, even my kids can make their own frozen hot chocolate treat.

We LOVE frozen hot chocolate at our house. It is a perfect after dinner treat!! It has the consistency of a Frosty from Wendy’s, but the yummy taste of hot chocolate. SOOOOO good!! A few tips to remember

  1. Don’t add too much milk or you will just have COLD hot chocolate.
  2. This recipe makes enough for one person. You can multiply the ingredients by the number of people you are serving. BUT at our house we have a cheapo blender and it works best to just make one serving at a time.
  3. Do not make more than you will eat in one sitting. This does not store well even if you re-freeze. You will get hot chocolate tasting ice-cream. Still good. But not as yummy.
  4. Don’t forget the whipped topping and sprinkles…I don’t know why, but it just tastes better that way:)

pin for later!!

How does 3 cups of ice cream yeild a 1 cup shake? Need to know the correct amount of ice cream, please!

    • They are probably using extra large mugs. You can use less ice cream and it will still turn out well. I make something similar but use bittersweet cocoa instead of hit chocolate mix. Recipe is forgiving.

3 cups of ice cream makes a one cup drink?

can your use dairy free products?

    sounds yummy!!

    • Yes you may use dairy free products, to keep it creamy you might use coconut milk - will change the flavor profile a bit, yet still really good. I make something similar with ice cream and bittersweet chocolate.
