Today, we're making Butterfinger Hot Chocolate!

This rich and chocolately drink is so warm and comforting. It's loaded with peanut butter. And, it tastes just like a Butterfinger candy bar thanks to a surprise (somewhat controversial) ingredient.

So, let's get into it!

This drink is a one pot, super fast, low effort recipe. Toss everything in a saucepan, whisk, and enjoy. That's it! And, though today's recipe only makes one serving, it's very easily doubled/tripled/quadrupled to be able to share with as many loved ones as you need.

We start with milk. I like to use 1% milk, because that's what I always have on hand in my house. You can absolutely use a higher fat content milk if that's what you have or prefer. A higher fat content milk will make this drink even creamier, but it will also make it taste a little more milky. But honestly, we're adding so many special ingredients to bulk up this drink, 1% milk becomes perfectly creamy in this drink once it's all said and done. So, why not save a couple calories where you can?

Next up, we're going to add in some milk chocolate chips and peanut butter. Both flavors are standard in a Butterfinger candy bar. But, the secret ingredient that takes this from peanut butter cup hot chocolate to Butterfinger hot chocolate is candy corn. Yes, candy corn.

I don't think there's ever been a more controversial confectionery treat than candy corn. People really, REALLY hate on candy corn. But at the end of the day, it's just a mix of sugar, butter, and vanilla. Those are classic sweet ingredients. And it's that pop of extra vanilla, almost caramel like, sweetness that makes this peanut butter drink have that signature Butterfinger flavor.

To amp up the hot chocolate quality of this drink, we're going to mix in some store bought hot cocoa mix, as well. And from there, we heat it all in a saucepan, and whisk whisk whisk. We're going to whisk constantly until all of our special components have fully melted and combined into the milk. And then, it's time to serve.

You could absolutely serve as is straight from the pot. Or, you could make this glass of goodness even more special by finishing the drink with a big ol' dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkling of chopped Butterfinger candy. My vote is for the latter.

This drink is just perfect. It's sweet and creamy. It's rich and chocolatey. It's got the perfect balance of savory peanut butter flavor mixed with sweet candy corn. And, it couldn't be easier to whip up. This is a drinkable candy bar, and I am so here for it!

Ok, everyone. Though candy corn is probably not going to be anyone's candy of choice ever, I surely hope this helps to dull any aversions to this simple and seasonal candy. If you can't beat'em, join'em; right?

I hope you all enjoy. And, let's drink!
