WHAT’S THE BEST RUM FOR EGGNOG?
You have a few rum options for making a good boozy eggnog:
- White Rum: white or clear rum has a very light flavor and a mild sweetness, allowing the gingerbread spices and eggnog to shine - this is the type of rum I use and recommend for this recipe.
- Gold Rum: gold or amber rum is a medium-bodied option which would be suitable for this gingerbread eggnog cocktail if you don’t mind the rum shining through a little more.
- Spiced Rum: since we are adding warm winter spices to our eggnog cocktail with the gingerbread syrup, spiced rum isn’t your best choice for this drink. However, if you are going to just spike eggnog with rum, using a spiced rum may be enjoyable for you.
WHAT SHOULD I SERVE THIS EGGNOG COCKTAIL IN?
I recommend using a coupe or martini glass for your gingerbread eggnog cocktails. Don’t have one of these? No problem! Serve in a lowball glass, white wine glass, or get cozy and rock a Christmas mug full of boozy eggnog.
