But there was this one soup, which was perfect for every weather. It was the cream of mushroom soup. And so, I carried the tradition of making this soup.


I don’t know how but this rich and creamy soup is wonderfully satisfying. I have never paired this soup with anything, but if you want, you can enjoy garlic bread, toast, or any other thing of your choice.

You might find many other cream of mushroom soup recipes online. But I want you to prepare this one because it is full of flavors and easy to make. In fact, once you have prepared it, I don’t think you will ever be buying mushroom soup again.

I love this soup because it’s related to my childhood and healthy, and full of flavors. This naturally vegetarian dish is quite popular among meat-eaters as well.


This soup will keep you filled for a long time. You can add fresh herbs to make the soup more flavorful. But I have kept my recipe simple. The ingredients added to my recipe can easily be found.

Steps To Make Healthy Cream of Mushroom Soup


No matter what the dish is, it can be easily messed up. That’s why I have divided this recipe into different parts so that you can make it in no time.


Step One

You can begin the preparation of making healthy cream of mushroom soup by taking one onion. Properly peel and wash it. Then dice it in evenly. Next, take 2 cloves of garlic, peel, and mince it.


After dicing and mincing, you need to focus on the main element of this soup, which is mushroom. Take 1 lb. white bottom mushroom. Clean it under running water and dice it evenly to cook all the pieces at a similar time.

Step Two

After cutting mushrooms, onion, and garlic, you can start cooking. So, keep a pot over medium heat. Let it warm, then add butter and olive oil together.


Add garlic and onion to the pot. Stir for a few minutes till the garlic and onion are cooked. Then add diced mushroom to the pot. Cook everything for a while. Finish step two by seasoning the mushrooms with salt, pepper, oregano, and dried thyme. Cook everything for about 5-10 minutes.

Step Three

To enhance the flavors, add vegetable broth. Let the mushroom cook in the broth for 20 minutes to absorb all the flavors. Adding broth also gives a heavy base to the cream of mushroom soup.

Step Four

Once vegetable broth and mushrooms are cooked nicely, you must puree everything using a hand blender. Don’t forget to add cream to get that silky and creamy texture. Garnish the soup with herbs and enjoy.

  • If you want to take this soup to a meaty side, you can use chicken or beef stock instead of vegetable stock.
  • You can keep this soup dairy-free by swapping cream with coconut milk.
  • If your cream of mushroom soup tastes a bit bland, you can add a few drops of cider vinegar or rice vinegar.
  • If you don’t have white bottom mushrooms, use fresh brown or cremini mushroom. You can also substitute white bottom mushroom for mini portobello mushroom.
