These fun Fourth of July Fruit Skewers are the perfect addition to summer celebration. Here’s how to make them with only a few ingredients!

What is it about the 4th of July that makes us want to have fun food to enjoy together? Maybe it’s because of the great summer weather we get to enjoy during the Independence Day holiday, or maybe that we use any excuse to fire up the grill and get together.

No matter what your reason, and whether you’re celebrating the Fourth of July or another occasion, fun food ideas are always great to have when you’re gathering with family and friends. We’ve been sharing some of our favorite new summer recipes the last few weeks here at Two Kids and a Coupon, and we have a fun new no-bake recipe that we know your guests will enjoy!

These patriotic fruit skewers are a fun appetizer or dessert for any occasion. Using only 3 ingredients, they are easy and affordable. You can also make them in minutes using strawberries, bananas and blueberries. Today we are going to show you how to make this tasty treat the next time you need an original idea for a picnic or barbecue.

In addition to the fruit mentioned, you will also need skewers and a large plate or serving tray to make and serve this recipe. You can use some that you have on hand, or pick them up on Amazon here. You will also need a knife, a cutting board and a colander to wash and dry your fruit.

Fun Fourth of July Fruit Skewers

To get started on this easy and healthy appetizer, you will want to wash and dry your fruit. I like to fully rise everything with a fruit and veggie wash in a colander, and then pat the fruit dry with a clean dish towel.

Next, you want to remove the stems and slice the strawberries. You will also want to peel and slice the bananas into coins.

Using your skewers, you will want to use the blueberries, strawberries & bananas to create a flag shape for your fruit skewers.

For best results, start with the blueberries as shown above to create a section for the square. If you’d like to add “stars” you can alternate the blueberries with mini marshmallows. Then add the additional fruit to the skewers, alternating bananas and strawberries so that it resembles the stripes of an American flag.
