Cucumbers and tuna are two of my favorite healthy foods, so I put them together in this easy and healthy recipe. They taste delicious, are loaded with flavor, and are satisfying with healthy protein from the tuna.

Simply slice cucumbers into thin rounds, top with a dollop of sriracha mayo tuna, and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced scallions. These easy, no-cook Spicy Tuna Cucumber Bites are perfect for a quick appetizer, snack, or light meal.

Why this recipe works

These tuna cucumber bites will become one of your go-to recipes for a quick appetizer or snack. Here is why:

  • They are super quick to make – They take only 10 minutes. There are times we prefer to avoid a time-consuming appetizer or snack.
  • It is a very easy recipe.
  • It is crowd-pleasing – Most people I may serve this to will be able to enjoy them because these bites are low-carb, gluten-free, and even keto-friendly.
  • Finger food – No utensils required!
  • Tasty – These bites are flavorful, refreshing, slightly spicy, and totally addictive.
  • They are more than just a wonderful appetizer for parties and gatherings; they are also a satisfying, healthy snack.

Ingredients to use for this recipe

  • Tuna: Use water-packed tuna.
  • Mayonnaise: You can also use plain nonfat Greek yogurt if you want a healthy alternative.
  • Sriracha sauce: It is the key ingredient that makes this tuna spicy. Preferably use sugar-free sriracha sauce.
  • English cucumber – This type of cucumber is rather seedless, and the skin is delicate and edible.
  • Garlic powder – Adds aroma and another layer of flavor.
  • Green onions (scallions): use only the green parts. Make sure they are thinly sliced.
  • Sesame seeds – Use white sesame seeds.
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

How to make the Spicy Tuna Cucumber Bites

  • Open the can of tuna and drain it. This step is essential because you won’t want runny tuna for these little bites.
  • Wash and dry the cucumber. Then cut it into bite-sized slices. There’s no need to peel the cucumber for this snack.
  • Add the drained tuna, mayo, sriracha, and garlic powder in a medium bowl. Season it with salt & pepper to taste, and stir until it is well combined.
  • Set your cucumber slices on a serving platter and top each with a small dollop of the tuna mixture.
  • Garnish each with some green onions and sesame seeds.
Variations

Make the tuna spicer or milder by adding more or less of the sriracha sauce. You can control the heat in this recipe.

Use black sesame seeds or a mixture of white and black sesame.

Use chives instead of scallions.

Notes and Cooking Tips

The total number of appetizers depends on how thick the cucumber is sliced. In general, aim for 16-18 slices per cucumber.

As desired, adjust the amount of Sriracha sauce for more or less heat.

Storing leftovers

Store any leftovers in an airtight glass container for up to 1 day.
