The easiest salmon tartare recipe, easy and delicious. You just have to be patient to wait for the chill process.


This dish comes handy as a refreshing appetizer or as an elegant main, it requires good quality sushi grade salmon* and some great olive oil.


When it comes to the sauce, it really is a matter of preference, I like it saucy, citrusy and light. Adjust as needed*


It can be served with bread, chips, or just by itself.

*Note 1: you can also use any salmon but previously frozen for 6days at -23C.

*Note 2: I like it saucy, if you don’t, just use 1/2 the oil and lemon quantities

Ingredients

  • - 500g sushi/tartare grade salmon*
  • - 1/4 cup olive oil
  • - 1 tsp grainy dijon mustard
  • - juice of 5 lemons
  • - 2 shallots
  • - herbs (dill, chopped basil, etc)
  • - chives for garnish
  • - salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

-Dice shallots and soak them in 1/2 lemon juice, refrigerate for at least 30 min (to milden the onion taste)
- Dice the salmon (~0.5” thick cubes) and place in a bowl, add olive oil, remaining lemon juice, mustard, salt, pepper, herbs and combine well
- Once shallots and ready add to the salmon mixture, combine well, and let it chill for 30min+ (ideally 1hr)
- Once ready, garnish with chives and serve with bread, chips, or just by itself
