This honey mustard ham sauce is perfect to serve with your Christmas or Easter ham. Make it for a special occasion or any time you cook a ham for supper. Honey mustard ham sauce can be prepared in only 10 minutes with easy ingredients like dry mustard, sugar and vinegar.

This honey mustard sauce is made from a recipe that has been passed down in my family through three generations now.

My grandma Audrey used to make it and gave the recipe to my mom (her daughter in law). My mom started making the sauce and it has been such a hit at family gatherings that other friends and relatives started asking for the recipe.

  • Ingredients for Honey Mustard Ham Sauce
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 2/3 cup of vinegar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 5 tsp of powdered mustard

There is only one ingredient in this recipe that I didn’t already have: powdered mustard. I found it in the ketchup and mustard aisle of the grocery store. The cornstarch is what makes the sauce thick, so don’t skip it. You only need one teaspoon though.

Mix all the ingredients in a heavy saucepan on medium heat.

Whisk the eggs in so that they are fully blended and continue stirring slowly as the sauce thickens. Once the sauce is thick, it’s ready. Transfer to a serving bowl and set it out for guests.

The taste is sweet and spicy. It’s definitely stronger than the weak honey mustard sauce you’re used to at fast food joints- but that makes it perfect for dipping your ham into.
