Ingredients for Watermelon Lime Granita

This simple recipe doesn’t require much in terms of ingredients. Grab yourself some fresh watermelon and a couple other ingredients to make this recipe.

  • granulated sugar
  • water
  • watermelon juice
  • lime zest

You will also need a small saucepan, blender or juicer, strainer and a dish to freezer the granita in.

How to Make Watermelon Lime Granita

This recipe is easy to make and doesn’t take much hands on time. To start, in a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Bring it to a boil until sugar dissolves to create simple syrup. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool.

While the water and sugar are on the stove, blend the watermelon and strain out the pulp or run the watermelon through a juicer. Then, set aside the juice.

Once the simple syrup is cool, combine with the watermelon juice and lime zest. Pour the mixture into a freezable dish, this can be an 8×8 pan, loaf pan or any plastic storage container. Wrap with plastic wrap and place in the freezer on a flat surface. Let freeze until solid. I like to let it freeze overnight.

Once it’s frozen solid, use a fork to scrape the top of the surface until all the granita is broken up with a fork. Return to the freezer for a few minutes to keep cold. Then, serve in desired serving dish.
