Pear Cobbler in Your Cast Iron Skillet

I did it! I seasoned my cast iron skillet and made a pear cobbler. Or maybe it’s a crisp? What’s the difference? All I know is there’s lots of pears, brown sugar, and butter in this thing. This recipe was first shared this pear cobbler over on Instagram, and it received so many saves and re-shares that I knew it needed to have a home here too!

A few months ago I talked all about the cast iron skillet that was rusting in my kitchen drawer and how I finally decided to dig it out and season it. I waned to attempt to use it for a few reasons: People were raving about it being non-stick, easy to clean, and non-toxic.

Sign us up right?

I also love how you can start a dish on the stovetop and transfer to the over. Ever use something and wonder what took you so long? That’s me and cast iron.

Don’t have a cast iron? You need one! I’ve had it for over 6 months now and use it daily. I make almost everything in it unless I’m cooking a stew or soup that needs a deeper dish. Here one on Amazon that’s priced well!

But remember, you’ll still need to season it first, even if you purchase it new.

This is the recipe I followed (loosely) because I don’t usually measure, just throw stuff in until I think it looks good. Where are my non-measure friend at?

Who else is a cast iron lover? What should I make it it next?

Also, for info on how to clean in between uses refer back to my other post above that shares all about how easy it is.

Spoiler, never use soap! Treat it well and you’ll be able to pass it down to your children, their children, and their children’s children!
