This cake is a big hit with my family lately. It’s quick to make and requires very few ingredients. Despite that, it's one of the most addictive cakes I’ve ever tasted. You can’t help but have one more slice... icon

I could say with confidence that half my freezer is packed with pre-made store-bought frozen pie crust. It is so easy to use (as long as you remember to unfreeze it in time! it takes about 5-8 hours in room temp. to unfreeze one). Once I unfreeze the dough, I preheat the oven. I lay the dough on a baking pan and let it rest.

I peel and grate apples. This is the most time-consuming task of this recipe. I need to fill at least 2 cups of grated apples.

My hubby likes fluffy cakes, so if I have enough apples (and stamina), I go for an extra cup.

Once I spread the apples over the dough, I powder it with two tablespoons of sugar and one teaspoon of cinnamon.

I put the eggs, sour cream, sugar and instant pudding in a mixing bowl. I mix it by hand, no need to use the mixer for that.

It takes about a minute to mix until everything is blended. Then, I pour the batter over the apples.

Then, it is Bake O'clock! I place the pan in the oven for about 30 minutes.

The cake would look like it’s still runny, but the pick should come out clean if you pick it.

Ingredients

  • One roll of store-bought frozen pie crust
  • 4 eggs
  • 800 gr (1 lb 12 1/4 oz ) of sour cream (15% fat)
  • ¼ cup of sugar + 2 tablespoons
  • 1 pack of vanilla flavoured instant pudding (80 gr)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2-3 cups of peeled, grated apples
Instructions

Unfreeze the dough per instructions on the pack
Preheat the oven to 180 (356 Farenheit) Celsius degrees
Lay the dough on the baking pan
Peel and grate the apples. You would need at least 2 cups of grated apples.
Spread the apples over the dough
Powder with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Put the eggs, sour cream, sugar and instant pudding in a mixing bowl. You can mix it by hand or use a mixer.
Pour the batter over the apples.
Put the pan in the oven for 20-30 minutes. The cake would look like it’s still runny, but the pick should come out clean if you pick it.
Let it cool completely before serving.
